Project statment

A 3D-printed lighting fixture designed and manufactured entirely in our studio, crafted to evoke subtle emotions through material contrast and light transformation. The fixture remains white when unlit and glows red when illuminated, creating an immersive ambiance. The design juxtaposes a 3D-printed light diffuser with a solid stone base, integrating touch sensors for seamless interaction.

Approach

Approach

The design explores the contrast between digital fabrication and natural materials, pairing a 3D-printed translucent shade with a handcrafted stone base. The touch-sensitive interface was integrated into the base, allowing intuitive control. Parametric modeling and material experimentation optimized light diffusion, ensuring a smooth transition between its two states. The layered printing technique enhanced both structural integrity and aesthetic translucency.

Our role

Our role

This project involved concept development, computational design, material integration, and digital fabrication. By combining 3D printing, natural stone craftsmanship, and smart interaction design, we created a functional yet poetic lighting experience that blends technology, materiality, and emotion.
